See it in action
Stairs in 22 seconds. No one helping.

Why we built it
A wheelchair shouldn't end at the bottom of the stairs.
Every set of stairs is a closed door. Subway entrances. Friends' apartments. The dentist on the second floor. Traditional power chairs solve flat ground. Stair lifts trap you in one house. Caregivers cost money and ask you to give up your day. The Movo X solves all three.
What makes it different
Built for the world as it actually exists.
820W dual-motor system
A 370W climbing motor pairs with a 450W travel motor. Durable traction tracks grip each stair edge while smart sensors continuously adjust balance throughout the climb — controlled by a single joystick.
Auto-brake on descent
Going down stairs is where most stair-climbing chairs fail. The Movo X holds itself against gravity at every step using regenerative braking. You cannot roll free.
No prescription. No install.
Ships in 45 days, calibrated and ready. No doctor's note, no installer visit, no permit. Unfold it, charge it, ride it. CE certified.
How it works
From flat ground to fifth floor.
Roll up to the stairs
Drive forward until the rear of the chair touches the first step. The chair detects the riser height and confirms it's within range.
Press Stair Mode
One button on the armrest reclines your seat to a safe angle and lowers the climbing tracks. A 2-second confirmation prevents accidental triggers.
Hold the trigger. Climb.
Pull the trigger — the chair climbs at your pace, one step per second by default. Release at any time to stop. Auto-brake holds you in place.

Founding 50 Program
Be one of the first 50 owners — save $1,500.
We're a new company. To earn the trust of the next 5,000 buyers, we're offering our first 50 customers a $1,500 discount in exchange for an honest 60-second video review after 30 days of use. No script. No edit rights. We publish what you record.
Why this matters: we'd rather have 50 real reviews than 500 made-up ones. The discount is our thank-you for helping us build something the next person can trust.
For families & caregivers
Buying this for a parent?
Most of our buyers aren't the rider — they're the adult child, spouse or caregiver. We built a dedicated guide that answers what you actually need to know: how to talk about it, what fits in a typical home, how to set it up safely, and what happens if your parent says no.
Open the family guide →"Will my mom be safe on stairs?"
Auto-brake engages on every step, every time. The descent speed is mechanically limited to 1 step per second, even if you let go of every control. The chair cannot roll free.
Customer stories
We don't have any yet.
And we're not making them up. Movo Chair is a brand-new company — we haven't shipped a single chair. The first 50 customers (our Founding 50) will record honest 60-second video reviews at day 30 of use. No script, no edit rights for us. Whatever they say, we publish. Real names. Real faces. Or nothing at all.

FAQ
The questions everyone asks.
Is the Movo X safe on stairs going down?
Yes. The chair uses a redundant braking system that engages automatically on every step. Descent speed is mechanically limited to ~15 steps per minute — about one step every 4 seconds. Even if you release every control, the chair physically cannot roll free. Every unit is stair-tested before it leaves the factory.
Do I need a prescription or a doctor's approval?
No. The Movo X is a consumer mobility device, not a prescription medical device. You can buy it directly. If you want to submit it to insurance for partial reimbursement, we'll provide an invoice with the necessary codes.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Yes. Mobility equipment is HSA/FSA eligible. Select "HSA/FSA card" at checkout, or pay another way and submit the receipt to your administrator. For most US buyers this saves $1,900–3,800 in effective cost.
What if it doesn't work for me?
Send it back within 30 days for a full refund — we pay return shipping both ways. No questions, no restocking fee. If something goes wrong after 30 days, the 2-year warranty covers parts and labor. Most repairs we ship a replacement part you can swap yourself in 10 minutes; we walk you through it on video.
How heavy is it? Can I get it in my car?
The chair weighs 96 lbs assembled. The battery is removable (12 lbs) and the seat folds. Two people can lift the folded chassis into an SUV trunk. For frequent transport, we recommend a hitch-mounted carrier — we sell one for $480 if needed.
Does insurance cover it?
Not yet directly. Medicare/Medicaid coverage for stair-climbing wheelchairs is on our active roadmap and we're working with three private insurers on partial reimbursement. In the meantime, HSA/FSA covers the full purchase pre-tax, and we offer 0% APR financing through Affirm for qualified buyers.
What stairs is it NOT safe on?
Honest answer: spiral stairs, stairs narrower than 28 inches, stairs with risers taller than 8 inches, and stairs where there is no landing at the top large enough to turn around (36 × 36 inches). If you're unsure, send us photos and we'll tell you straight whether your specific staircase works. Email team@movochair.com.
What happens if it breaks while I'm using it?
The chair has redundant systems for the safety-critical components — braking, balance, and step detection. If a non-critical system fails (display, joystick, etc.) the chair safely powers down. If something fails mid-stair, the brake holds you in place until you call our 24/7 support line: +1 224 255-3315. Engineering testing to date has shown zero mid-stair failures, and the safety design assumes failures will eventually happen at scale — built to fail safely.
From the founder
"My uncle stopped coming to family dinners because we live on the second floor."
That was 2022. We built the first prototype in my garage that fall. Four years, eleven prototypes and three independent safety audits later, the Movo X is ready. It will not solve every accessibility problem in the world. But for the families I've watched skip holidays because of a flight of stairs — this changes things.
